EdTechProfile efficient updates

Most districts currently make effective use of the EdTechProfile built in features to make the annual EdTechProfile update process quick and efficient. These features include:

  • Only use DISTRICT email addresses
  • Use of the “Email log in to All” feature
  • Effective clue question/answer in use for account lookup feature

Most sites and districts effectively follow the updating EdTechProfile instructions that are posted at: http://ctap10.org/~gregg/ETP/updatingETP.htm

I forgot my password, how do I get my log in?
On the EdTechProfile log in page, use the " Forgot your ID Number or password?" feature.

All requests for EdTechProfile log in information will be redirected to District level EdTechProfile lead/admin. District level EdTechProfile lead/admins will need to use their EdTechProfile district level lead/admin rights to respond to the log in requests. It will be necessary to:

  1. Log into your EdTechProfile account;
  2. Look up the person’s account using the User Accounts link on the Administration tab;
  3. Email their log in information using the Email Login Info to User button.

Site level EdTechProfile lead/admins should be following the instructions posted at http://ctap10.org/~gregg/ETP/updatingETP.htm
Following these instructions should eliminate the need for using the Account Lookup feature.

Where will these requests come from?
When a person uses the “Forgot your ID Number or password?” feature at the EdTechProfile log in page, the user is asked for their first and last name. The system then searches the EdTechProfile account data bank, presents the user with their log in clue, and when responded correctly, the user’s log in information is presented to them on screen.If the person does not answer the clue question correctly, the system presents them with a request for log in information. At that screen, the user enters his/her name, school site, email address, and, if applicable, their previous school site. This request is then forwarded to the regional EdTechProfile Administrator. These requests will then be forwarded to district level EdTechProfile lead/admins.

How many log in requests will you receive?

  • Most districts will receive very few, if any, requests for log in information, as they have made effective use of the updating instructions found at: http://ctap10.org/~gregg/ETP/updatingETP.htm
  • Most districts effectively use the “Email Log in to All” feature, as described in the instructions at the link above.
  • Most districts have suggested that their staff use a clue question/answer that is easily remembered, example, father’s middle name, mother’s maiden name, first child’s name.
  • Most districts have encouraged their staff to only use district email addresses. In this way, emails don’t change from year to year, and when using the checking/entering email feature (see: http://ctap10.org/~gregg/ETP/updatingETP.htm), all staff email can be quickly verified by the site EdTechProfile lead/admin.
